Hilliard Recreation & Wellness Campus

Hilliard, OH

EDGE partnered with the City of Hilliard to develop the master plan for a transformative 125-acre recreation and wellness campus designed to serve residents of all ages. Integrated trail connections, athletic facilities, and outdoor gathering spaces work together to support both daily community use and regional activity. Today, the campus functions as a central event venue for the region while remaining an accessible, welcoming resource for Hilliard residents.

At the heart of the campus is The Well, a state-of-the-art community center that anchors a multi-phase destination uniting recreation, wellness, and community life. Beyond organized programming, the campus supports everyday wellness through spaces designed for restoration, connection, and informal use. Outdoor patios, a zen garden, and a courtyard garden extend The Well into the surrounding landscape, creating opportunities to recharge between activities.

A 45-acre athletic field complex serves as a key component of the broader campus, establishing the site as a high-performing sports destination. The complex includes lit synthetic turf fields, high-performance grass fields, and dedicated spaces that support teams, spectators, and event operations. Concession and restroom facilities, internal roadways, and parking areas are carefully organized to create a seamless arrival and circulation experience. Carefully planned field programming, parking ratios, and amenities, ensure the campus remains flexible and responsive to evolving needs.

Sustainable site development strategies and regionally appropriate plant materials reinforce long-term performance while enhancing seasonal character across the site. Together, athletic facilities, trails, gardens, and community services reinforce one another to support a comprehensive recreation and wellness experience. By balancing regional events with daily comfort and accessibility, the master-planned campus advances Hilliard’s vision for a destination that serves residents today and anchors community recreation for generations to come.
