Set against the wooded hills of Bellevue, NOVEL Harpeth Heights is a retreat-style residential community designed to reflect the local heritage, ecology, and hospitality of Middle Tennessee. EDGE partnered with Crescent Communities to shape a landscape that fosters connection between people and place. The landscape design draws on the site’s natural surroundings and rural character to create a cohesive, high-amenity experience that inspires daily interaction with the outdoors. From the layout of trails and open spaces to the material palette and planting design, every element contributes to a community that is intentional and easy to enjoy.

At NOVEL Harpeth Heights, wellness is not confined to a gym—it’s integrated into every aspect of resident’s daily routine. Connected by open green space, lush garden features, and easy to navigate circulation routes, the site offers a range of amenities that lend to a balanced lifestyle of high-energy recreation and relaxation. Residents can swim laps in a designated lap pool, walk natural-surface trails, tend to the community garden, pick fruit in the orchard, toss a ball at the dog park, or gather in the open-air kitchen to cook a homemade dinner. To unwind, they might stretch out on a lounger in the resort-style pool, rest comfortably beneath the cabanas, or gather beside the firepit under the stars. The landscape promotes holistic wellness, facilitating movement, mindfulness, and meaningful connection all just steps from their door.

EDGE was proud to receive the 2023 George H. Cate, Jr. Award from the Metro Nashville Tree Advisory Committee on behalf of the project for exceeding the city’s tree ordinance requirements. More than 1,000 trees were selected and tagged at the nursery by our design team, including specimens for a 30-tree apple and peach orchard. The project is proof that high-performance landscapes can deliver both environmental value and curb appeal!
