Centennial Mall serves as the heart of the University of Toledo’s main campus, providing a central green space for students, faculty, and visitors. EDGE collaborated with the university’s beautification committee to enhance the mall’s landscape while seamlessly integrating a necessary fire access road. The design ensures that this functional element remains unnoticed by users, preserving the mall’s open, walkable character. Upgrades to the existing walks and plazas, combined with lush plantings, expand the green space and create a more inviting and pedestrian-friendly environment.

Enhancing the College Experience

Beyond its functional improvements, the design of Centennial Mall creates a true sense of place. Strategically placed walkways connect key academic buildings, guiding movement while maintaining a park-like atmosphere. Integrated seating areas encourage students to gather, study, or relax between classes. Public art installations further enhance the space, providing visual interest and reinforcing the campus’s identity. These elements come together to ensure Centennial Mall remains a vibrant and memorable backdrop to the college experience.
