Modern Library Blurs the Lines Between Indoors & Outdoors
The Columbus Metropolitan Library’s Reynoldsburg Branch enhances the visitor experience by integrating landscape and architecture into a cohesive, visually connected design. A modern glass facade is framed by a curated landscape, featuring a grove of trees on the front lawn and ornamental grasses that provide a dynamic backdrop. Layered plantings reinforce views from the first and second stories, strengthening the connection between indoor and outdoor spaces and creating a seamless experience for visitors.
Site design prioritizes accessibility and intuitive movement. A welcoming entry sequence from Brice Road includes an ADA-accessible ramp, steps, and layered plantings that guide visitors naturally to the building. Pedestrian pathways link the main drive, entry drop-off, parking lot, and drive-through window, ensuring clear circulation throughout the site and supporting a welcoming, usable landscape around the building.
The second-story overhang shelters a covered patio, extending the library experience beyond the building, while an open lawn creates adaptable spaces for quiet reading, small gatherings, and informal community interaction, reinforcing the branch’s role as a neighborhood destination.
