Designed to Endure: New Albany Park Delivers Decades of Lasting Impact
Flexible Design Supports Generations of Growth
Bevelhymer Park has been a recreational anchor for New Albany for over two decades. When the parks district turned to EDGE to lead the master planning and subsequent expansion of the park’s 53 additional acres in 2004, the goal was clear: create a flexible, connected framework that could meet the community’s growing needs while honoring the original character of the park. Today, Bevelhymer continues to deliver on that vision.
Introducing 13 new multi-purpose fields, 4 ballfields, leisure paths, restrooms, concessions, and ample parking, the expansion was designed not only to meet the recreational needs of the moment, but to anticipate the evolving demands of a growing population. New amenities such as basketball courts, the pickleball complex, and most recently the New Albany Fieldhouse rising across the street, have easily integrated into the master planned site, ensuring that each addition feels like a natural extension rather than a retrofit. Careful attention to stormwater management and long-term maintenance further reinforces the park’s ability to perform as designed beyond the initial build.
Where New Albany Plays, Competes & Connects
While its design endures, Bevelhymer’s real success is measured by its daily use. The park accommodates a wide range of activities, from youth leagues and weekend tournaments to individual training sessions and community events. Fields are active throughout the week with practices and games, while trails and open spaces provide opportunities for walking, cycling, and passive recreation. Designed to support both structured athletics and casual use, the park remains a key piece of New Albany’s public infrastructure and a reliable resource for residents of all ages.
